We are sometimes called a “conservative
church.” It would be more accurate, though, to describe us as
“confessional Lutherans.” That is because we continue
to confess that the entire Bible is the true and inerrant revelation
from God to his people. For this reason we put our full trust and
confidence in God’s Word, the Bible, and we draw all of our
church beliefs and practices from it. In brief, here is a simple
summary of what we believe and teach.
- As the Bible declares, God created men and women and determined
how they should live.
- Ever since the Fall into sin, everyone is sinful by nature,
breaks his holy commandments daily, and deserves to spend eternity
in hell.
- God is merciful and gracious and has provided us a means of
salvation. God sent his own Son, Jesus Christ, to live innocently
for us, to die on the cross as our substitute for sin, and to
rise in victory on the third day.
- Through faith in Jesus Christ we now stand holy and righteous
in God’s sight and receive the free gift of heaven.
- The Bible is the only means of knowing God’s good news
and the way of eternal life.
- As the Bible teaches, baptism is a means of God’s grace
intended for infants as well as adults. Holy Communion is the
body and blood of Christ received with bread and wine for forgiveness,
new life, and salvation.
