Key to Life
Construction News

Volunteers built two storage sheds on October 7

Over a dozen volunteers showed up to work for foreman, Randy Durst, the first week of October. The crew was able to construct two storage sheds – one for storing outdoor play equipment and the other for outdoor maintenance equipment. Thanks to the many guys who spent hours and effort in their service. We thank God for the gifts he’s given you. Thank you also to Thrivent for Lutherans for supplying some nourishment last Saturday.

Construction of the rest of the building continues to go well. Highlights include the parking lot being paved and the windows being installed.

Key to Life
Childcare News

Director Stacy Scott & Key to Life (K2L) chairman, John Colby, began interviewing prospective employees. We are happy with the initial number of applicants. If anyone would still like to apply, contact Stacy Scott through our church office.

Costs for 2007 are as follows:

Note: The Lord continues to bless us with many contacts for this ministry. If you know someone who is interested in using this childcare, have them contact Stacy Scott soon.

Key to Life
Community Center

In addition to the childcare ministry, we hope to serve the community through the 60x40 community room that can be utilized for various functions. Currently, Pastor Wolfe is making arrangements to train members to teach English as a Second Language. This is one of many ministries for which members can volunteer. If interested, please contact him as soon as possible.

Schofield Outreach

Bible Information Class
We rejoice with Kim Bethke and Kyle Bender who were confirmed on October 1. We also ask that the Lord continue to bless the 13 participants in our current Bible Information Class.

PowerHour
PowerHour – a parent/toddler program – wraps up on October 18. Over thirty children participated with their parents. Only seven of the thirty children are from our congregation. Thanks to all who donated items for our use.

Area Newcomer Callers
For the past few years, a few people have telephoned and welcomed newcomers to the area. If you would simply like to be a friendly voice that welcomes people to the area and ask if there is any way we can serve them, contact Jim Priebe at 359-7590. The work load consists of making about 12 calls a month – or about a ½ hour of your time.

Photographer Wanted
To help us get to know the new members, we would like someone to use church’s digital camera to display new members on a bulletin board at church. If interested, contact Dan Fenske at 241-0077.

WELS Outreach

Invest and Do Ministry Simultaneously

A tremendous blessing, yet largely unknown entity, that has supported gospel ministry for years is the WELS Church Extension Fund (CEF). CEF serves as a synod “bank”, managing $132 million of assets to provide grants (free money) and below-market loans for mission projects. For example, for our Key to Life project, we received a $116,000 grant and a 4% loan on a portion of the building. While the Lord has blessed and continues to bless us through this program, the reality is that CEF needs new gifts and investments to continue to serve as our synod’s mission “bank.”

How can I become involved?

Consider making a special gift to the CEF Assistance Fund and/or make CEF part of your investment plan. While rates are competitive, more importantly, your investments in CEF help assist mission congregations in land purchases and facility construction.

For more information or to subscribe to current investment rates, check out www.wels.net/cef.

Interest Rates as of October 2006

Loan Certificates ($500 minimum investment)

6 month = 4.80%
12 month = 5.00%
24 month = 5.05%
36 month = 5.15%
60 month = 5.25%

Savings Certificate ($100 minimum)

$100 - $2499 = 2%
$2500+ = 3.50%

**There also is a kids’ investment program which has no minimum investment. What a great way to teach your children Christian stewardship!

Please consider these investment programs for you and/or your children and rejoice that the Lord can use you in this way to spread his Word.
